What to do in the Event of a Frozen Water Line
March 4, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

Residents that have no water are advised to take the following actions:

1. Consider turning on your heat trace.

2. Call your landlord and/or a plumber to thaw or water pick your service line.

3. Verify that your circulation pump is working. If it is not working, call your landlord or plumber. It is very important to ensure your circ pump is operating.

4. Call City Public Works 979-5630 during business hours and dispatch 979-5650 after hours to report your frozen line, this helps the City monitor the water lines and avoid main line freeze ups.

By taking these measures, residents are assisting the City to avoid larger issues such as a main water line freeze up that could result in a citywide water interruption.
