THE CITY OF IQALUIT WELCOMES ITS NEW MAYOR

October 28, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) - The results for Iqaluit's new Mayor are in.  Two candidates ran for Mayor, Noah Papatsie and Kenneth Bell.

Kenneth Bell is Iqaluit’s new Mayor elect with 1049 votes, Noah Papatsie came second with 688 votes. The new Mayor will serve a four-year term ending October 2023.

At the time this is release, ballots for City Councillors were still being tabulated.  Results are expected to be announced early in the morning.

The new Mayor and Council are expected to be sworn in at a ceremony on Tuesday, November 5 at the Nunavut Court of Justice. The inaugural council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 12, 6:00PM at the Iqaluit Council Chambers.
