Arctic Winter Games Complex
The Arctic Winter Games Complex (AWG) is a year-round sports centre. It is operated as an ice arena from October to April and as an indoor sports field with artificial turf from May to September.
The AWG Arena is the only NHL-sized ice surface in Nunavut. From September to May, the AWG hosts tournaments, territorial competitions, and skills clinics. Drop-in activities include family and public skating. Hockey and speed skating groups take advantage of this first-class facility. Birthday parties of almost any size can be held at the arena, making use of the lobby and the ice surface.

From May to September, the AWG Indoor Sports Field can be used for a wide range of activities; soccer, ultimate frisbee, preschool playtime and fitness activities are popular. Soccer tournaments, including territorials, and skill clinics are also hosted here. Birthday parties with inflatable bouncy castles are popular at this facility. Drop-in activities, such as public soccer and parents-and-tots activites are hosted here.
The Arctic Winter Games Indoor Turf season is now closed for the 2017 season. Thank you to everyone that made it such a great place to be this year!
The Arnaitok Arena is located downtown in the Arnaitok Complex below the City Hall. From October to May, the Arnaitok Arena offers public skating. and various community and sport organizations – including figure skating, broomball and hockey – call this rink home. Schedules are updated every few months and will be available on this page along with the upcoming tournament schedules.
