Municipal Enforcement

The Municipal Enforcement Department is responsible for the enforcement of the City of Iqaluit's municipal by-laws in addition to selected territorial acts and regulations that are designated within their authority by the territorial government. The department remains committed to doing this while maintaining the trust and confidence of Iqalummiut through pro-active enforcement and demonstration of core values that include integrity, professionalism, excellence and teamwork.

Traffic Enforcement

Municipal Enforcement conducts regular traffic controls within the city. We are responsible for enforcing offences under the Traffic Safety Act, the All-Terrain Vehicles Act and municipal traffic by-laws. Offences under these laws include speeding, impaired driving, driving unregistered vehicles, large vehicle offences, operating snowmobiles and ATVs without a helmet among many others. We also work closely with Iqalummiut to educate and raise awareness about safe driving and injury prevention. We encourage anyone who has concerns or would like to report an offense to contact dispatch at 979.5650.
